Halim A. Flowers is a multidisciplinary artist, author, and entrepreneur whose journey reflects resilience and transformation. At 16, he was sentenced to two life terms, an experience documented in the Emmy Award–winning film Thug Life in D.C. During his 22 years of incarceration, he founded a publishing company and authored 11 books.
Since his release in 2019, Halim has become a prominent cultural voice. He received fellowships from the Halcyon Arts Lab and Echoing Green, and in 2020 signed with DTR Modern Galleries. His artwork has been commissioned for the Queen of England’s Platinum Jubilee, Warner Brothers’ centennial, and featured in a live performance at the Royal Wedding of Norway. He has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale with the European Cultural Center.
Halim has spoken on panels with the Milken Institute, Silicon Valley Bank, and Blackstone, and is currently a USA Leader with the Obama Foundation.
