Emily Guilford serves as the Gardener at Evermay, responsible for the care of the gardens, ensuring the preservation of their historical value, and keeping them visually inspiring throughout the seasons. She strives to enhance the beauty, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability of the landscape by combining traditional gardening techniques with modern horticultural knowledge.
Emily is from a small town in Southern Virginia, where plants played an integral part of her upbringing. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors in Biochemistry, and minors in Chemistry and Horticulture. She then went over to England to receive her Masters in Ethnobotany at the University of Kent, where she fell in love with plants all over again. She hopes for a future where every living creature is respected and treated as such.
