The Great questions studio - FAQs

I have never been to Evermay. Is it a formal place?
Evermay is a beautiful place with formal events on occasion, but the Great Questions Studio is not one of them. Dress comfortably — you’ll be moving around and meeting new people. The space is designed for comfort and conversation.

I have a religious tradition. Will it be challenged?
The Great Questions Studio is about enlarging and growing your perspective, not challenging, questioning, or arguing with your tradition. All traditions will be explored as time allows. We’re hoping to have people from many faith traditions in the room, along with humanists and atheists — the best way to learn about any tradition is through the lived experience of someone who practices it.

I’ve recently been through a hard time and I’m not sure what I believe anymore. I used to be involved in my religious tradition but have grown disillusioned with that tradition, and maybe with organized religion in general. Is that okay?
GQS is made for seekers like you. All religious traditions are respected, as are individual lived experiences,  yours included and you can choose to share your story or not. The mission of GQS is to create space for people to explore deep questions: who or what is bigger than us, what it means to be human in the age of AI, and how we’re meant to live. The three are closely connected.

What’s it like to come alone? My friends aren’t free on Thursday nights.
Walking into a new space not knowing what to expect can feel a little nerve-wracking, and we get that. The space is welcoming, and you’ll be interacting with others through guided prompts from the start. We’ll do everything we can to make entering the room easy. Exploring meaning and purpose is a team sport — we’re building a community at Evermay of people genuinely seeking wisdom in a loud world.

Will I be separated from my friends?
Yes and no. The space is set up so you’ll interact with a mix of people, but you’ll also have time to spend with your friends.

Tell me about the food and drinks. Alcohol? Dinner?
Snacks and beverages will be available, including beer and wine. We’ll wrap up promptly at 7:30, leaving time for your dinner plans.

Will there be parking?
Yes — we have free parking on site with plenty of space. We just ask that you don’t park on the surrounding streets.

Do I have to buy tickets to all of them? What if I can’t make an earlier class — can I join a later one?
While we’d love for you to join us for all four sessions (and bundle tickets are available), each of the four is designed to stand on its own. Drop-in tickets are available, so feel free to join whichever sessions work for your schedule.
