Sam Gottesman is a Managing Director and Market Executive for Bank of America Private Bank in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He has overall responsibility for a highly-experienced, focused group of private client advisors located in four offices in D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. In his role as Market Executive, he understands the demands and complexities of substantial wealth, and helps advisors and associates deliver an exceptional client experience to the individuals, families and institutions they serve.
Sam oversees the effective delivery of an extensive array of financial services and solutions for clients with sophisticated needs, including investment management, trust and estate planning services, credit and lending, and philanthropy. He channels resources, advocates for client needs and enhances team effectiveness through the strengths and capabilities of advisors and specialists throughout the enterprise. Attuned to the challenges and nuances of the Private Bank’s clients, Sam fosters a team-focused approach grounded in the unique needs of wealthy families and institutions. With more than three decades of financial services experience, he applies his deep understanding of complex markets and financial transactions to attract and retain top talent to advance client priorities.
Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank, he was a Managing Director and Market Manager at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Washington, D.C. Previously he was Chief Investment Officer for Mizuho Alternative Investments, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mizuho Corporate Bank, where he was a member of the Management and Investment Committees. Sam also served as Chief Operating Officer for Blaylock and Company, a leading minority – owned U.S. investment bank.
He has held senior leadership roles in management and trading with Commerzbank, Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch and Drexel Burnham Lambert. Sam earned his M.B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and began his career at Goldman Sachs.
