Patrick Dowd

Patrick Dowd is a creative strategist and producer who helps good things grow at the intersection of culture, technology, and commerce. Through his studio, Stellar, he designs ventures, brands, and campaigns that bring transformative ideas and experiences to life.

Previously, as Head of Brand Innovation at PayPal, Dowd led strategy and execution across PayPal’s global brand portfolio. Together with global popstar J Balvin, he co-founded OYE, a Spanish-language wellness app that helps people channel their emotions into creative expression. As a Fulbright scholar in India, he produced a documentary on electronic waste recycling for ARTE.

Dowd is a member of the Council of Elders at Hurry Up We’re Dreaming, a studio exploring the spiritual frontiers of technology, and an advisor to Evermay, the S&R Foundation’s Embassy of the Future in Washington, DC. He previously served as Board President of the Long Now Foundation, a global leader in long-term thinking across technology, ecology, and culture.

The youngest-ever Editor-at-Large for National Geographic Traveler, Dowd was recognized by GOOD Magazine as one of the world’s top 100 individuals at the cutting edge of creative impact. He founded the Millennial Trains Project, an initiative that advanced socially-impactful ventures across America in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation, IDEO, and the U.S. State Department.

A graduate of Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and Oxford University’s MBA program, and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dowd brings a global perspective and interdisciplinary approach to all his work.
